Freshman G Ahmad Nowell Enters the Transfer Portal
Freshman guard Ahmad Nowell has made his intention known that he will enter the NCAA transfer portal. The 6-foot point guard from Philadelphia, known for his physicality and competitive spirit, is seeking opportunities elsewhere after a single season with the Huskies.
During the season, Nowell appeared in limited minutes, averaging 1.5 points, 0.9 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game. His playing time was impacted by injuries. In early December, Nowell sustained a shoulder sprain that sidelined him for just under two weeks. In late January, he suffered an injury to his ankle that kept him out for roughly another two weeks.
While he wasn't a primary contributor this past season, his potential and work ethic were highly regarded. UConn's coaching staff will look to the portal themselves as well as incoming freshmen to fill the point guard position for the 2025-2026 season.
