It’s Christmas Eve, 2021. Brian Doherty, the head coach at Algonquin Regional High School at the time, receives a call from a former player, Alex Karaban.
“Can I get in the gym and shoot around?” Doherty remembers Karaban asking. He had just graduated from IMG Academy to enroll early at UConn. Doherty was super excited for him.
Karaban was in the gym every day that week getting shots up.
