UConn OL Chase Lundt became the second OL to be selected in the NFL Draft in as many years, picked by the Buffalo Bills in the 6th round. Lundt was an underrated prospect in the class of 2019, earning a two star rating by 247Sports, and was the 218th best OL in the class, and 333rd best prospect in the state of Texas. He had the size, leaving HS at 6’7” 265, and put on about 40 pounds through his time at UConn.

Lundt was named to the preseason watch lists for the Reese’s Senior Bowl, and East-West Shrine Bowl, and was selected to participate in the Senior Bowl, but was recovering from an injury suffered in the Fenway Bowl victory over North Carolina. That same injury prevented Lundt from materially participating in the NFL Combine, although he did perform on the bench press. Despite his two-star ranking, Lundt made an impact as a redshirt freshman, starting eleven games in 2021, and never gave up his starting spot, a streak of reliability similar to Christian Haynes, another Husky OL who was drafted by the Seattle Seahawks in the third round of the 2024 NFL Draft.

At UConn, Lundt helped a prolific rush game, aiding the Huskies to 191 rushing yards per game in 2022, 136.6 yards per game in 2023, then back up to 199.2 this past season. He was the tenth best tackle in 2024 according to PFF, allowing zero sacks and just one QB hit, while committing just two penalties. NFL scouts like that Lundt has been reliable, playing over 3,000 snaps, absorbs power rush with contact balance, has fluid change of direction, and has quick, accurate hands. Scouts believe Lundt has shorter arms, and may be better suited at guard due to that and his bend and core strength.

Lundt is the 31st Husky drafted in the FBS era, and just the fifth Husky OL selected in that timeframe. He joins former Husky teammate Ryan Van DeMark on the line.
