The UConn men's basketball program has secured a commitment from 6-foot-5 wing Jacob Ross, the latest addition to the Huskies' 2025 recruiting class. Ross, a three-star prospect according to 247 Sports, previously decommitted from Minnesota in March following their coaching change. He’s chosen to join his older brother, Jayden Ross, in Storrs.

Jacob spent this season at SoCal Academy, previously playing for Long Island Lutheran like his brother. He grew up in northern Virginia and played for Team Melo and Team Loaded on the AAU circuits.

Jacob brings versatility and toughness to the Huskies, especially on the defensive side of the court. Ross previously told On3. “I would describe my game as a Swiss Army knife. Someone who’s going to be a dog and someone who’s going to do who it takes to win."

General Manager Tom Moore has articulated a strategic shift in the program's recruiting approach towards the team’s remaining scholarships. Jacob’s athleticism brings an upside that could blossom with development time in the UConn program. He was originally considering Old Dominion alongside Minnesota, but he also held offers from VCU and College of Charleston.

The Ross family's athletic pedigree is notable, with both parents having been college athletes at Rutgers. Jacob's decision to join UConn not only continues this legacy, but also reunites him with his brother Jayden, who is entering his junior year with the Huskies.
