The UConn men’s basketball program has received a commitment from IU Indianapolis guard Alec Millender as a transfer addition for the 2025–26 season, bolstering the team’s backcourt depth and ball-handling capabilities.

Millender, a 6-foot-1 185-pound guard from Chicago was a 5th year player in the 2024-25 season. He started 27 of 32 games for IU Indy, including the last 25 after taking over the starting point guard duties. He averaged 8.2 points, 3.7 assists, and 1.8 rebounds per game. Alec demonstrated remarkable efficiency, shooting 60.2% effective field goal percentage (eFG%) and an impressive 42.7% from three-point range on just over 4 attempts per game against D1 competition. His assist-to-turnover ratio stood at 2.95:1, leading the Horizon League.

He also led the Horizon in offensive rating during conferences play at 128.1, but his usage was low relative to his teammates.

Before his tenure at IU Indy, Millender played for Division 2 Wayne State for 3 years. During his Wayne State enrollment, he sat out the 2022-2023 season as a medical redshirt due to a torn labrum and hip surgery. He returned the next season and played every game. He played high school basketball for all 4 years at Saint Rita of Cascia High School in Chicago.

Alec committed to the UConn coaching staff on his visit on Monday, May 19th. He will be in his 6th season of college basketball for the Huskies in 2025-26. He should bring some vocal leadership to the squad.
