The UConn Huskies received a commitment from 2026 wing guard Colben Landrew on Wednesday on CBS Sports’ College Basketball channel. Colben hails from Georgia, but previously lived in Alabama and Mississippi. He chose UConn after visiting the Huskies on the weekend of October 3rd. Colben also went on official visits to Texas A&M, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Louisville, and Purdue. Most recruiting experts said the decision came down to UConn, Louisville, and Mississippi State.

Landrew is a high 4-star recruit, ranked as high as 17th in the class of 2026 by On3/Rivals, as well as #63 by ESPN and #21 in the 247 Sports class rankings. He’s the #26 player and classified as the #6 SG in the On3 Industry composite rankings. He attended the Team USA Junior National Team minicamp in Colorado Springs this past weekend.

Colben attends and plays for Wheeler High School in Marietta, Georgia, where his team won the Georgia 6A high school championship this past season. He played on the Adidas 3SSB AAU circuit, where his Game Elite team also won the 3SSB Palmetto Road championship. He averaged 15.1 points, 5.8 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 1.5 steals per game while shooting 34.4% from three on roughly 3.5 attempts per game and 85.9% from the free throw line for Game Elite this spring and summer.

Landrew is an all-around player. His ability to score, defend, and rebound lets him impact the game in a variety of ways. He has a long wingspan and more core and lower body strength than most players his age. He’s a good shooter off the catch, an important ability to fit into Hurley’s offense on the wing. Colben can score efficiently in isolation inside of a team construct, which adds an element that UConn’s offense was missing in the 2024-2025 season. ”I would describe my game as smooth, not rushed, big guard—I’m still adding to my overall game, but I can defend multiple spots and score on all three levels.”
- Colben Landrew to Stockrisers’ Jake Weingarten

With Junior County and Colben Landrew committed in the class, sources indicate that will most likely be the end of UConn’s 2026 high school recruiting cycle. The incoming class will be rounded out by internationals and transfers depending on roster needs after the season.
