All had seemed quiet on the recruiting front as new HC Jason Candle was getting acclimated. He arrived Monday and made remarks to fans, donors, and media at Rentschler Field, and sat courtside for the men’s 77-73 win over Florida at MSG. Wednesday, however, saw Candle earn his first commitment as UConn HC, as his 2026 QB from his class at Toledo will be joining Candle in Storrs.
Enter Bo Polston, a three star recruit among the three big recruiting services (85 on 247, 84 on On3, and a 74 on ESPN). Polston, a 6’3” 200 QB from Indianapolis, initially had chosen the Rockets over offers from Indiana, Minnesota, West Virginia, Akron, App State, Ball State, Central Michigan, Liberty, Marshall, Miami (OH), New Mexico State, and UMass. He is a two-time state champion for Decatur Central, and has thrown for over 6,400 yards in his career. According to the Toledo Blade, at one point in his recruitment he held offers from Georgia, Michigan, and Washington.
A dual-threat QB, Polston has added over 1,500 rushing yards in his career, on top of the 6,425 passing yards. He’s thrown 66 TD passes, and rushed for 20 TDs in his four years. His Decatur Central team finished with a 9-3 record, rated the 10th best team in the state by MaxPreps. Their season came to end in a 47-23 loss to eventual champion Brownsburg in the 3rd round.
