UConn has named Kerry Davis II as the new wide receivers coach on Jason Candle’s staff. He brings a depth of experience at many different levels to the role along with strong recruiting chops.
Davis comes to Storrs from Kent State, where he was the wide receivers coach this season. Before that, he spent two years with the Baltimore Ravens as an assistant quarterbacks coach and two seasons at Georgia Tech as receivers coach.
He worked with Candle for one season as the running backs coach at Toledo in 2018 after leaving Dan Mullen’s staff in Florida, where he coached receivers for two years. In 2016, he was named one of the top 25 recruiters in the country by Rivals for his work with the Gators.
Davis has also had stints at FIU, Florida Atlantic, and FCS Montana State. A Houston-area native, he started his collegiate playing career at Baylor and finished it at FCS Hampton, graduating in 2003.
The former college QB started his college coaching career at Morgan State in 2007 before one year at Texas Southern, and was also offensive coordinator at Stillman, an NAIA school, before joining the Montana State staff under Jeff Choate, who is now the head coach at Nevada.
