UConn announced that John Morookian has joined Jason Candle’s staff as the offensive line coach. He spent the 2025 season with the Michigan Wolverines as assistant O-line coach and was a sophomore at Toledo when Candle joined the Rockets’ staff in 2009 to coach slot receivers and tight ends.
Before Michigan, Morookian spent two seasons at Charlotte, leading the OL there in 2024. He was also the OL coach at Kansas and Akron in 2020 and 2021, respectively, and held staff roles at Michigan (2022) and Iowa State (2018-2019).
Morookian was also a graduate assistant at Toledo in 2014, when Candle was the offensive coordinator at the time. He was a four-year starter for the Rockets from 2008 to 2011, and began his coaching career in Ohio but has roots in New England, having grown up in Providence, Rhode Island, where he attended Milford Academy.
His coaching career started at Findlay, a Division II school in Ohio, before his GA year at Toledo, coaching tight ends. He then spent two seasons as the OL coach at Tiffin University, another Ohio DII school, and followed that with another GA stint, this time at Indiana, before his offensive quality-control gig at Iowa State.
