UConn has announced that Robert Weiner is joining Jason Candle’s staff as assistant head coach.
Weiner was previously the co-offensive coordinator and QB coach at Toledo from 2020 to 2025 and served as the Rockets’ interim head coach for their bowl game this season. A former high-school head coach, Weiner has been a senior leader as Toledo consistently fielded one of the best offenses in the MAC.
Before Toledo, Weiner was the head coach at Tampa Plant HS for 16 seasons, winning four state championships as he coached future stars like Georgia QB Aaron Murray and USF/Arizona QB Jordan McCloud.
At Toledo, Weiner is credited with the success of Rockets’ QBs Tucker Gleeson and Dequan Finn, a former first-team All-MAC selection. His Florida roots have helped him earn recognition as one of the top recruiters in the MAC, according to 247 Sports.
