Less than two weeks ago, UConn men’s basketball was facing doubts, despite a great overall record and a stellar run through non-conference play.
They had just lost to a middling Creighton team at home and had also decisively lost to St. John’s 12 days earlier. In between, they did not inspire confidence with relatively close wins over Butler and Georgetown.
The defense had fallen off a cliff, and the bench was struggling as well.
