UConn is no stranger to freshmen shining in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament. Last year, Sarah Strong notched a 20-point double-double. The season before, Ashlynn Shade lit up Jackson State with 26 points. Prior to that, Azzi Fudd and Paige Bueckers impressed in back-to-back years.

This year was Blanca Quiñonez’s turn.
