UConn’s reserve junior guard Uroš Paunovic has announced his intention to enter the NCAA transfer portal, his agent Matija Mihailovic informed League Ready’s Sam Kayser. The 6’ 3”, 190-pound guard from Serbia saw minimal action during his tenure at UConn.

This was his first season with the Huskies. He appeared in 15 games this season, playing 14 minutes total. Previously, he played for KK Zlatibor in the Serbian KLS and the Adriatic League.

Dan Hurley alluded to potential transfers from players like Uroš who did not play much for UConn this season during his media availability on Tuesday.

“I think the thing with going to 15 is that there's just going to be more people that just end up going in the portal... We're going to have potentially some people that might have red shirted or players that hadn't played since early December that go into portal and, “Wait a second, they've got six guys in the portal! What's going on there?” Whereas if we kept the roster numbers lower, there'd be less people that are leaving the program. But I think we still may do that anyway because we ended up finding great guys. It took us all the way through the summer to get to 15, and it allowed us to continue to practice at the intensity level that we like without overly taxing the veterans and the starters.”
