UConn freshman guard Jacob Furphy has announced his intention to enter the NCAA transfer portal, according to CBS Sports.

The 6’ 6”, 205-pound guard from Tasmania, Australia was in his first season with the Huskies. He appeared in 14 games this season, playing 35 minutes total. He played for the Centre of Excellence in the NBL1 and the NBA Global Academy before joining UConn.

Jacob was a 4* recruit, ranked in the top 150 by the 247 Sports composite. He starred in the FIBA U-19 World Cup this past summer and even saw time with the Basketball Australia Senior National Team. However, a logjam on the wing at UConn and an ankle injury in the pre-season made minutes for the Tazzy scarce, and he struggled to crack the rotation.
