Eric Reibe’s transfer out of the program paired with Tarris Reed Jr’s graduation meant that UConn returned no rotation players at the center position heading into the offseason. Seton Hall freshman Najai Hines committed to UConn last week and is expected to start, and Giltay should serve as his “platoon” partner off the bench.
Giltay made 5 starts for Stanford last season as a freshman, coming to the program as a 3* top 200 recruit according to 247 Sports. He is an active and disruptive defender at the center position, blocking shots and rebounding well. He has professional experience in Belgium as well as in international FIBA tournaments for the Belgian youth teams. He will look to develop his offensive game more with the Huskies.
