After locking down local prospect Dae’Sean Graves, UConn football stayed hot, receiving a commitment from VA DB Eltonino “Nino” Hicks. The Springfield, VA native chose UConn over offers from BC, Bryant, Coastal Carolina, Colorado State, Delaware, James Madison, Liberty, Marshall, Middle Tennessee, NC State, Norfolk State, Old Dominion, Sacred Heart, South Carolina, Syracuse, Temple, Toledo, UAB, and Virginia Tech.

Hicks was a part of the 2026 recruiting but reclassified to 2027, and transferring to St James. His St James squad finished 8-1, defeating regional powers St Thomas More (CT) and Hun School (NJ), before falling to national powerhouse St Frances in the season finale. Hicks is rated as a three star recruit by both 247Sports and On3, earning a grade of 86 from each.

Hicks is ready to be a Husky, telling Storrs Central, “UConn just felt like home the moment I stepped on campus. The coaching staff believed in me and showed me a real vision for where this program is headed. I’m ready to come in, compete, and help bring this program to the next level. Go Huskies!”
