The UConn men’s basketball program has received a commitment from Arkansas center Elmir Džafić as a transfer for the 2026–27 season according to his agent Miško Ražnatović. He is expected to add depth to the team’s big man unit. His name is pronounced El-Meer JAWF-ich.
Elmir, also called EJ, is a 7-foot 285-pound center who played sparingly for the Razorbacks. He came to Arkansas from Tuzla, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and previously played for KK Bosna Sarajevo, which plays in the ABA and the Bosnian league (known as BiH). He also represented Bosnia at the FIBA U18 European Championships (Division B), where he averaged a double-double (13.1 points and 10 rebounds per game) in 8 games. He scored 22 points against Iceland:
The 20-year old rising sophomore played in 7 games for Arkansas, but never for more than 4 minutes in a game, and he scored all his points on the season from the free throw line. EJ’s minutes were also sparse for KK Bosna in previous seasons. Similar to recent centers such as Rrezon Elezaj, his focus will be on development and contributing in practice, with a chance to earn minutes as the third center.
