Transfer DL from Kansas State Commits to UConn
UConn has added to its vaunted DL group, in Kansas State DL Jevon Banks. Banks, the 26th rated strongside DE by 247 in the Class of 2020, was also the 17th rated prospect in the state of Mississippi, where he chose the Bulldogs over offers from Louisville, Memphis, Nebraska, Tennessee, Texas A&M, and Tulane, among others. He committed to Mississippi State, playing from 2020-2022, before transferring to the other Manhattan for the 2023 season.
In Starksville, he played sparingly in his first two seasons, before getting more time in 2022, where he played in 10 games, totaling 17 tackles, 2 TFLs, and 0.5 sacks. In Manhattan, he played in all 13 games for the Wildcats, accruing nine tackles, two sacks, and a fumble recovery.
He joins fellow Wildcat, DB Jordan Wright, in Storrs this fall. It is a veteran DL group, with three starters returning, but could use some additional depth, and the Huskies got it with Banks, and Furman/Georgia Tech transfer Jack Barton. He will have two years of eligibility remaining.
