The Huskies added depth to their secondary in Wisconsin DB Dean Engram. Engram, who entered the portal in 2022 but did not find a team for 2023, joins several transfers in the UConn secondary in Malachi McLean, Reggie Akles, Jarvarius Sims, and Jordan Wright.

Engram, from Columbia, MD, attended Gonzaga College HS, the same as this year’s number one pick in the NFL Draft Caleb Williams, and former UConn WR Aaron Turner. He chose Wisconsin over offers from BC, Georgia State, UMass, NC State, Penn State, Pitt, Rutgers, Toledo, and Virginia Tech as a three star recruit.

He redshirted in 2019, then played in seven games in 2020. He got work as a punt returner, returning nine punts for 14 yards, He played in all 13 games in 2021, starting five games at nickel cornerback. He totaled 20 tackles, and one INT. As primary punt returner, he returned 15 punts for 76 yards. Engram switched positions in 2022 to WR. As a WR, he caught 13 passes for 152 yards, and returned 24 punts for 132 yards.

He not only will add to the UConn secondary depth, but also provide help at punt returner, a position where UConn struggled in 2023.

Shoutout KTuck for this tidbit.
