UConn Football continues to add to its skill position depth this offseason, adding Class of 2027 WR Raymond Liggins III. The Chicago native attends the Peddie School of New Jersey and was originally a Class of 2026 prospect who reclassified to attend the school. Prior to transferring, Liggins held offers from Howard, Georgetown, Southern Miss, Illinois State, Central Michigan, South Dakota, Indiana State, and Western Illinois.
After transferring, he received offers from Arizona State, Kentucky, Miami, Missouri, Virginia Tech, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Kansas, and Old Dominion. He told CBS Sports’ Tom Lemming in March that he was most interested in Miami, Arizona State, Central Michigan, and Miami (OH), but recruiting can change quickly.
As is typical when seniors transfer to prep schools, offers often come in after transferring and before even playing an official down with the new school. A series of showcases, camps, and open practices with new teammates lend themselves to offers coming in. At Simeon HS in Chicago, Liggins was All-State and All-City, and ran a 4.48 40 yard dash at an Under Armour NEXT Combine, but Lemming reported Liggins runs a 4.31 40.
Liggins told Storrs Central, “It just felt like home, the coaches were very intentional on how they want me to come in and use me. It’s a great place, and Coach Candle is the guy I want to play for.”
