The Big East released its men's basketball schedule on Monday morning, presenting UConn's league slate for the upcoming season.
The Huskies will open Big East play by hosting Georgetown on December 23, three days after their non-conference matchup against Virginia at MSG.
Then they have two road games to take them into the new year: Dec. 31 at Butler and January 3 at Creighton.
They then host DePaul on Jan. 6 before a Jan. 9 visit to Seton Hall and then two straight at home: against Marquette on the 12th and Xavier on the 16th.
Dan Hurley’s squad will meet new Providence head coach Bryan Hodgson on January 20 when the Huskies visit the AMP. They’ll wrap up their season series’ with Butler and Georgetown later that week, hosting the Bulldogs on the 23rd before traveling to Washington DC for a contest on the 26th.
They’ll stay on the road as they close out the month with a big Friday night matchup at St. John’s on Jan. 29.
The Huskies open February with a two-game home stand against Villanova and Creighton before visiting DePaul on February 10th and a quick return visit to Villanova on the 14th.
So we’ll have Super Bowl Sunday, Valentine's Day, and the second regular-season matchup between the last two Big East teams to win a national championship on that glorious occasion.
The Huskies host Seton Hall after they return from Philly and then visit Marquette on February 20 as the season begins to wind down. They wrap up their home slate with Providence and St. John's, and their regular-season finale will be played at Xavier on March 6th.
UConn has scheduled one of the toughest out-of-conference slates of any team in the country. Part of the reason they do it is because the league slate doesn’t have a lot of major contenders.
St. John’s making the Sweet 16 last year is the best postseason performance by a non-UConn Big East team since Villanova’s 2022 Final Four. In their second year under Kevin Willard, the Wildcats could be decent, and Providence hopes to leap into the national picture after making the splash hire of Hodgson. Marquette and Shaka Smart also may have something going after losing some ground in the NIL-powered future that college sports has wrought.
These are the teams expected to be most competitive against UConn in the battle for the conference crown.
Since returning to the Big East in 2020, UConn is a league-best 86-30 (.741) in regular-season play. The Huskies have finished top-four in the league standings and reached the semifinals of the Big East Tournament in every season, including two trips to the title game in the last three seasons and the 2024 dual crown.
