You can tell it is almost the UConn women’s basketball season by several signs. The temperature gets a little bit cooler, the sun sets just a little bit sooner, and when the full season schedule releases. The season’s path to a potential 13th national championship is now public knowledge, as the BIG EAST schedule was released.
It is a schedule that is filled with high level matchups, as UConn fans will certainly be accustomed to at this point.

Potentially, the most notable aspect of UConn’s BIG EAST schedule is actually what isn’t there. Consistently there has been a big non-conference matchup, often against Tennessee that falls in the middle of the conference stretch of UConn’s regular season. This year, once UConn enters BIG EAST play, they are in it until it is NCAA Tournament time.
This will certainly allow a larger focus on the day-to-day of BIG EAST play, but also means that you must be at a high level early for the Huskies as your non-conference is stacked with tough teams. Ten of the teams that UConn will be facing in the non-conference this season were in the top 25 of the final NCAA NET Rankings, seven of those ten being in the top 15.
UConn will have a strong idea of where they stand nationally once they enter BIG EAST play, and from the moment they tip-off against Xavier on December 31st, the regular season will be about winning more BIG EAST championships.
