Huskies add Talented WR through Portal
UConn added to an already talented WR room in former Kentucky Wildcat Shamar Porter. Porter, a 6’2” 205 lb WR from Ensworth, TN, committed after visiting this past weekend.
He did not play last year as a true freshman for Kentucky, who went 7-6 last season, including a big rivalry win over Louisville.
Porter was rated a 4 star recruit by 247Sports On3, and Rivals. He chose the Wildcats over offers from Arkansas, Cincinnati, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Indiana, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Penn State, Purdue, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, West Virginia, plus some G5 offers. He was the 27th rated WR in the class according to 247, and he caught 32 passes for 557 yards and 10 TDs his senior season. He was also quite the track star, running 10.87 in the 100 meter dash.
He joins other transfer WRs in Purdue’s TJ Sheffield, Wisconsin’s Skyler Bell, Akron’s Jasaiah Gathings, as well as incoming freshman Brock Montgomery. Huskies may be not done adding through the portal, stay tuned to Storrs Central for news as it breaks.
