The UConn football Huskies now have 24 commitments in the 2027 recruiting class, a total that already surpasses the numbers reached under the previous coaching staff. Florida LB Xavier Floyd became the latest addition on Sunday, committing to UConn after taking an official visit that began Friday and included Saturday’s Syracuse game.
Floyd transferred to Eau Gallie HS in Melbourne just prior to his senior season and is listed as a LB/ATH. Standing at 6’3”, 195, with a 6’8” wingspan, the staff is undoubtedly impressed with his athleticism and has plenty of room to add to his frame. In his junior season at Rockledge HS (FL), Floyd recorded 62 tackles, nine for loss, with an interception, three pass breakups, and two forced fumbles.
In his senior season at Eau Gallie, Floyd has notched 24 tackles, 22 of them the solo variety, with three TFLs, two sacks, and a hurry in three games. He recorded a season-high ten solo tackles in a 28-14 win over Cocoa, who has an interesting connection to New England, as their QB transferred there from the Weaver Co-Op, and leading receiver Anthony Whaley (who is also a UConn target) is from Springfield, MA.
Floyd joins fellow 2027 commit Minikon Johnson as a future piece at linebacker.
