Huskies Add DB Out of GA
The UConn football Huskies received their second defensive back commit from the state of Georgia in Elijah Whitaker. Whitaker, from Griffin, GA, chose the Huskies over offers from East Carolina, Georgia Southern, Georgia State, Liberty, Western Kentucky, plus several FCS offers. Whitaker was a part of the big Father’s Day weekend official visit crew, along with fellow DB commits Jordan Rich and Axavier Bridges-Brooks.
Whitaker played for Spalding HS, who went 12-1 this past season, suffering their first loss in the quarterfinals of the Georgia 4A playoffs. He was a two-sport athlete at Spalding, also playing varsity basketball. Whitaker was selected 1st team All-Region in both his sophomore and junior season, and chosen for the Georgia Junior Bowl for rising seniors. At 6’1”, he has good size and looks to maybe play safety at the next level.
