Huskies Add ACC TE
After losing leading receiver in TE Justin Joly last offseason, fans were understandably upset. The recipient of Mr. Joly, the NC State Wolfpack, returned the favor just after midnight on New Year’s Day, as Javonte “Juice” Vereen committed to the Huskies.
Vereen, a 6’4” 220 sophomore TE, appeared in four games this season for NC State without accruing any stats before redshirting. As a true freshman in 2023, he had all four of his catches for 65 yards against Notre Dame. Similarly to Joly, he plays a hybrid WR/TE role, allowing for some more versatility in the Husky pass game, with TEs Louis Hansen and Alex Honig, more traditonal TEs, returning.
A 3 star prospect per 247Sports and Rivals coming out of Havelock, NC, Vereen chose NC State over offers from BC, Duke, Georgia, Louisville, Maryland, Buffalo, Campbell, Charlotte, East Carolina, Georgia Southern, Miami (OH), and USF, plus some FCS offers. During the transfer portal cycle, he announced offers from UConn and Marshall. He visited both schools. Vereen should have three years of eligibility remaining.
