J. Wilder Tasker was not in Storrs for a long time or even a good time but his time in town was certainly interesting.
The most significant mark he made was shepherding Connecticut Agricultural College, the forerunner to UConn, to its first great men’s basketball season in 1921-1922. Before Tasker’s arrival, UConn played just above or just below .500 basketball most seasons.
