Earlier today, UConn announced they will be facing Iowa in a two-game series starting in 2026-27. The first matchup will take place on Sunday, Nov. 8 with the Huskies hosting at a location to be revealed at a later time. The second matchup will take place in the 2027-28 season in Iowa City.

In the 2020s, the Hawkeyes have been a fairly common opponent for the Huskies. After not facing off since the 2001-02 season in Storrs, the two programs have faced off four times since the 2020 season. UConn has won three of those four games and hold a 7-4 all-time record vs Iowa.

Most recently was just this past season at the 2025 Women's Champions Classic at Barclays Center on Dec 20, 2025. The top ranked Huskies would coast by the No. 11 ranked Hawkeyes as they won 90-64 in a statement win ahead of Big East Conference play. Azzi Fudd would score 27 while Sarah Strong followed with 23 points.

Both the Huskies and the Hawkeyes will have new pieces in new roles as both Fudd and Iowa’s Hannah Stuelkue have graduated. It will look to be a battle of the bigs as Sarah Strong leads UConn while Ava Heiden leads the way in for Iowa.

The addition of Iowa to the schedule for this upcoming season continues to bolster the already strong non-conference schedule the Huskies have on deck.

Just days prior to the matchup with Iowa, UConn will be in Ann Arbor for a matchup with another Big 10 foe from last season in Michigan. They end the month of November with matchups against South Carolina and Duke. Then as it stands, the final announced date is a December 5th matchup with yet another Big 10 opponent in Maryland.

No stranger to tough non-conference schedules, UConn has loaded up once again for what should be a loaded early portion of the season, with great tests and potential resume building for the Huskies ahead of entering into Big East Conference play.
