The first trailer for Apple TV’s documentary series, “The Dynasty: UConn Huskies”, has been released, setting the tone for what to expect from the three-part documentary.
As the curtain is pulled back on the Huskies dynasty, fans will get a behind the scenes look at what it has taken to build the UConn women’s basketball program to the success it has found and the toll it takes to win. Within the trailer, UConn legends such as Paige Bueckers, Maya Moore, Sue Bird, Diana Taurasi, Breanna Stewart, and more, are all featured discussing their time in Storrs.
The common denominator amongst all the answers shown in the trailer? It is tough to play for Geno Auriemma. Whether it is Stewart saying “I miss UConn, but I don’t wish to go back” or Bueckers admitting that she questioned “do I even want to be there anymore”, the focus on the toughness it takes to be a Husky will be prominent in the series.
And Auriemma himself knows it is hard to be at UConn and what he asks of his players to reach the heights that are standard at UConn. “Winning a National Championship is like a drug, and you desperately want another one,” Auriemma states in an interview featured in the trailer.
That feeling will be well explored in the series as there will be a special focus on the 2025 National Championship team with interviews from players such as current Huskies Sarah Strong, KK Arnold, Jana El Alfy, and recent graduate and 2026 No. 1 WNBA Draft pick Azzi Fudd.
There seems to be yet another common denominator amongst the stars and legends of Huskies women’s basketball, as it was said by Diana Taurasi in the trailer, “it was worth it. All of it,”.
The unique balance of incredible tough challenges and remarkable success will be showcased with archived footage, player interviews, and access to players in behind-the-scenes moments. What goes into what is now known as the greatest women’s basketball program of all time will be put under the spotlight when the documentary series releases on August 21st.
