Apple is releasing a documentary on Friday that covers the 40-year journey of UConn women’s basketball, from the hiring of Geno Auriemma in 1986 to the juggernaut it is today, with 12 national championships and a globally renowned brand.

While the dominance of Geno’s Huskies is easy to take for granted, there was a time when championships weren’t the standard, and women’s hoops was fighting for a place on television and highlight shows.
