The suspense was massive for UConn men’s basketball fans throughout the week, as “The Decision” loomed for Alex Karaban. Should he stay or should he go?

Fans finally have their answer. It’s time to run it back.

“While I’ve enjoyed the Draft process, Storrs is home. Let’s run it back,” the two-time champion said via Instagram.

The return of the Southborough native is massive for this Huskies unit going into the 2024-25 unit. With new additions like Liam McNeeley to key returners like Jaylin Stewart and Samson Johnson, his presence not only brings a massive amount of leadership to this unit, but also an injection of talent that makes them one of the most feared teams in college basketball. Last season, Karaban averaged 13.3 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 1.5 assists in 31.4 minutes per contest as one of the key starters on last year’s roster.

Throughout the NBA Draft process, Karaban repeatedly said that he was comfortable going either route, whether that was staying in college or remaining in the NBA Draft, and for good reason. Even without his return, this Connecticut roster was certainly primed to compete once again, but the return of Karaban simply adds another level to Dan Hurley’s team for next season.

There are plenty of goals for Karaban next season, whether that’s elevating his NBA Draft stock or winning a third straight title for the Huskies. Either way, one thing is for certain: he’ll be doing it in the blue and white.
